Where Does It End?

There is little doubt now that our country is in it's worst economic shape since the start of the Great Depression. News announced today alleges that Chrysler could file for bankruptcy next week, and rumors persist that GM will shutter 12-plants for nine weeks in the summer with three of those plants possibly being in Detroit.

I am worried. While we are not an auto making community and won't suffer directly, we will suffer indirectly, depending upon the depth of the disaster in front of us. Parts companies, shipping, other manufacturers, stores, restaurants, and other businesses will all feel the crunch. Also, this will either work a miracle for GM or be it's death. Either reduced prices will mean people will flock to car lots to buy a good deal, or the will run like hell to Ford and other car makers because they don't want their new car to be hung out when the parent company goes belly up. Where does it end? When? Soon, I hope. Pray hard for those that are going to be affected by this next wave of ripples.
